Additional Required Fields

This article explains scenarios in which additional fields may be required and how that is supported by Double the Donation.

In some cases, additional information from donors/employees may be required or recommended at the time of a matching gift request. A few examples:

  1. Available funds: Most donors/employees have a set "budget" they can use to get their donations matched in a set amount of time, usually a year. When requesting a match, donors/employees may need to ensure they have sufficient unspent funds to avoid "overdrawing" or having their request later denied.

  2. Company program requirements: Company matching gift programs come with minimums, maximums, and any number of related eligibility requirements. Donors/employees may need to confirm their gift meets these requirements before submitting their request.

  3. Fund distribution: Some companies allow employees to direct their matching gift funds from a particular fund or budget within their company. For example, a disaster relief fund or a mission-driven (e.g., cancer awareness month) fund. Donors/employees may need to indicate which fund they want to draw their request from.

Double the Donation can support a wide variety of required fields in the autosubmission flow. Once the donor/employee is authenticated and the company selected, the relevant information can be presented to the donor for interaction. See below for an example:

Additional required fields can be surfaced to the donor/employee in a few different ways. A few examples:

  1. Double the Donation can call an endpoint maintained by your platform that returns the relevant required fields for the individual donor/employee. Double the Donation will then render the form in the confirmation page plugin and style it appropriately.

  2. Your platform can provide code (preferably JavaScript) that will make calls back to your platform and render a pre-styled form in the Double the Donation confirmation page plugin.

  3. A custom approach co-developed in collaboration with your platform developers.

Work with your Double the Donation Partnerships Manager ( partners@doublethedonation.com) to choose the right approach for your platform.
